Georgia QB Stetson Bennett arrested for public intoxication in Dallas as he prepares for 2023 NFL Draft

Former Georgia Stetson quarterback Bennett IV was arrested in Dallas at 7:10 a.m. ET Sunday and charged with misdemeanor public intoxication, police say. Officers responded to reports of a man knocking on doors in Old East Dallas and, after finding Bennett, took him to a city detention center. Further details of the incident have yet to be released.

“Preliminary investigation has determined that when officers arrived they located the male, 25-year-old Stetson Bennett, and determined that he was intoxicated,” a statement from the PDPD said. Dallas. “Bennett was arrested, transported to the city detention center and charged with public intoxication.”

Bennett became a folk hero for the Bulldogs when he took the starting job midway through the 2021 season and threw for 2,862 yards and 29 touchdowns. His performance for 224 yards and two touchdowns in the 33–18 win over Alabama helped the Bulldogs claim their first title since 1980. It earned Bennett National College Football Playoff Championship MVP honors.

Bennett followed that with 4,127 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022. He threw for 398 yards and three touchdowns in the 42-41 win over Ohio State in the Peach Bowl National Semifinals and 304 yards and four touchdowns in the CFP National Championship win over TCU. . He was named Offensive MVP in both games, cementing his place among the most legendary players in Georgia history.

Despite his success, Bennett was not ranked on the CBS Sports NFL Draft prospect rankings.
