6 people killed in St. Lawrence Co. crash

CITY OF LOUISVILLE, New York (WWNY) – New York State Police say six people have died, one person is in critical condition and two others were seriously injured after a head-on crash on State Route 37 in the city of Louisville. We are told that the victims are adults.

The accident happened at 6 a.m. Saturday between a 2021 Freightliner van truck and a 2013 express bus.

There were 15 people on the bus and a driver in the box truck.

Officials described the crash site as “horrific” and said emergency crews had done an “incredible job” to deal with the large number of people killed or injured.

St. Lawrence County launched its mass casualty plan. 15 ambulances were called to the scene.

As of 1 p.m., the highway is closed between County Route 14 and Coles Creek Road.

Road conditions were covered in snow, with poor visibility. The box truck would have been fully loaded at the time of the accident.
