Two found dead in Phoenix, suspect killed in police shooting in Kansas

PHOENIX – Police are investigating a double homicide that took place Sunday in Phoenix.

Just after 1 p.m., Phoenix police were called to a home near 51st Avenue and Broadway Road to reports of an injured person.

When officers arrived, they found two adults who had apparently died from gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified by police as Cameron Brown, 28, and Asya Rose Ribble, 27.

Police also found their two young children inside the house and were unharmed.

During the investigation, authorities were able to identify a male suspect, Leroy Malone, 39, who was found out of state.

Phoenix detectives have contacted agencies nationwide with information on the suspect and a woman who was likely with him.

They were finally located Monday in an area near Minneola, Kansas, where a confrontation arose between the suspect, resulting in a shootout involving an officer.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation confirms to ABC15 that Clark County deputies located Malone and attempted to stop his vehicle, but it took off.

Deputies then pursued the vehicle with the assistance of the Kansas Highway Patrol. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, gunfire was exchanged in Dodge City, Kansas.

Two Ford County Sheriff’s Office deputies were shot. One was taken to hospital in serious condition and the other is in “good condition”, according to the KBI.

A third deputy, from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, was also shot and is in serious condition in a hospital.

During the incident, a Kansas Highway Patrol soldier was bitten by a K-9 officer and is said to be in “good condition”.

Malone was shot multiple times and killed during the incident.

The woman accompanying him was also shot several times and is in critical condition.

An investigation remains ongoing.
