All Houston ISD extracurricular activities canceled Tuesday due to inclement weather and a tornado warning

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — Houston ISD has canceled all extracurricular activities for Tuesday due to inclement weather that could cause flooding in the streets, bring damaging winds and turn into strong tornadoes.

Parents, if you were planning to pick up your child a little later because he is in a sport or a club, you are advised to make other arrangements because these activities are no longer available.

As for releasing students early from school, the only district that has made the decision to do so is Liberty ISD, saying all campuses will release students at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

“Inclement weather with high winds and possible flooding is possible this afternoon at our scheduled exit time. The safety of our students, staff and community is always our top priority,” the official said in part. district.

Klein ISD announced that they are sheltering in place and have moved all students and staff inside the buildings.

Katy ISD is also under a shelter-in-place protocol, according to an email from the district. This means that parents are asked not to pick up their students on campus.
