Alabama Basketball moves up to No. 2 in AP poll

Absolutely amazing effort here, guys.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, Alabama is at No. 2 in the latest AP basketball poll, just behind Purdue at No. 1.

The Tide’s move comes after turning two tough road tests into laughs, with Kansas dropping a rivalry game at KSU and Temple stunning Houston at home.

The PA is not alone.

Gary Parrish and the CBS poll have the tide in 2nd, as does Andy Katz, on NCAA.com. Still pending the coach’s poll, but it’s very likely to mirror the AP Top 10, but maybe in a slightly different order.

We will have more with Seed, but Alabama has also moved up to 2nd in Sagarin, jumping above Kansas, Purdue and Tennessee. The strong SOS of The Tide (5th there), jumps ahead of the rest of the Top 5, and only KU with the 2nd toughest schedule comes close (Sagarin rank, 8). Interestingly, Houston maintains its slight tidal lead over Sagarin and KenPom. And Alabama made no move on the latter — still buried 3rd overall behind the Vols and Cougars. KenPom prioritizes defensive efficiency, while Alabama is 5th overall on this side of the field, the Vols (2nd) and Cougars (1) are better. Although, it goes without saying, the Tides are better on the offensive end.

We’ll have more later this week, for now rejoice in all that Nate Oats and a lot of hard work has brought us.

Rolling tide.

Build that damn arena, Greg.
