Xander Schauele records a rare albatross with an incredible shot at 2023 American Express

Xander Schauffele started the final round of the American Express 2023 eight strokes behind co-leaders Jon Rahm and Davis Thompson and really couldn’t do anything early on Sunday.

Schauffele pared on his first four holes before leaving on the par-5 5th, but that’s when he worked his magic.

After driving his ball 314 yards, he faced a long second shot over a lake to the green. At 225 yards, Schauffele’s ball barely cleared the water but landed softly and then started heading for the hole.

And then he rolled into the cup like a putt for an albatross 2 on the par 5.

The three-hit swing propelled him into the top 10 at 18 under.

It’s the first PGA Tour albatross since Stephan Jaeger accomplished the feat in the final round of the 2022 John Deere Classic.
