LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln Police Department on Monday shared new details about the weekend homicide in the Near South neighborhood, adding that it was a disturbance about dogs that ran off. is rapidly intensified.
According to Deputy Chief Brian Jackson, At 10:19 a.m. Saturday morning, officers were dispatched to S 18th Street and Euclid Avenue to report that a person had been shot.
The LPD said responding officers found Julian Martinez, 18, of Lincoln, with a single gunshot wound to his upper torso.
At the same time, Deputy Chief Jackson said dispatchers told officers a caller said he had just shot someone.
According to Deputy Chief Jackson, the investigation so far has determined that it was a neighborhood disturbance over dogs that quickly escalated.
Officers arrested Armon Rejai, 29, of Lincoln, for second-degree homicide.
LPD said Rejai and Martinez lived in adjacent properties.
Investigators said they were looking into rumors of a possible break-in before the shooting.
Lancaster County District Attorney Pat Condon said his office is making a decision on the charges beginning Monday morning.
