Kishida says Japan is on the brink of social dysfunction as births plummet

TOKYO — The low birth rate puts Japan “on the brink of inability to maintain its social functions”, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida warned on Monday.

“Thinking about the sustainability and inclusiveness of our country’s economy and society, we place support for children’s education as our most important policy,” Kishida said.
