Musk says Twitter will launch gold and gray checks alongside a blue verified mark

Nov 25 (Reuters) – Twitter will roll out verified gold and gray checkmarks when it relaunches the coveted blue check service next Friday, chief executive Elon Musk said in a tweet, after delaying the rollout earlier this week.

“Gold check for corporations, gray check for governments, blue for individuals (celebrity or not). Painful, but necessary,” Musk said in a tweet.

All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before verification is enabled, Musk said.

“Individuals may have a small secondary logo to show they belong to an organization if verified as such by that organization,” Musk said in another tweet, adding that he would provide a more detailed explanation next week. .

The company had suspended its recently announced $8 blue check subscription service as fake accounts spiked, and said the sought-after blue check subscription service would be relaunched on November 29. Read more

The blue tick was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, celebrities, journalists and other public figures.
